    Summary:


    Reporting directly to the Vice President Operations for Lifespan Physician Group (LPG) and the Chief Medical Officer for Newport Hospital with a dotted line to the Chief Nursing Officer of Newport Hospital directs and oversees the LPG Womens Health practice(s) as a high functioning best practice operation and Newborn Nursery Provider clinical operations on the Noreen Stonor Drexel Birthing Center (TBC) at Newport Hospital.

    Collaborates with the Nurse Manager of TBC on day-to-day clinical operations.

    Engages providers in the establishment of a professional culture that advances evidence based clinical practice to deliver high quality patient care and maintain optimal clinical quality and safety outcomes.

    Implements and guides the strategic plan as it relates to in concert with the overall strategic plan of LPG Newport Hospital and Lifespan.

    Develops new business opportunities as well as develops robust reporting on service line to achieve targeted goals related to overall performance.

    Acts and leads as a change agent and liaison partnering with all Lifespan entities and related business partners.


    Role shared between LPG and Newport Hospital and has overall responsibility for overseeing provider clinical care education and innovation; which encompasses strategic planning financial management practice management department administration recruitment retention and business development.


    Responsibilities:
    By applying core and leadership competencies leaders help Lifespan achieve its strategic goals. Responsible for the development and execution of the office practices capital and operating budgets. Participates and leads the long-term planning for the specialty in concert with the strategic planning function at Lifespan. Demonstrates excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Provides clear expectations on priorities deliverables and milestones as it relates to core priorities and strategic initiatives. Develops business plans performance metrics dashboards and physician reports to create a data driven and transparent culture.

    In the area of business development is responsible for supporting the executive management team at Newport Hospital with implementation of the Hospitals strategic plan focusing in particular on initiatives that identify expanded business opportunities optimal patient access programmatic growth and innovation.

    Ensures providers and office practice staff maintain compliance with Baby Friendly designation status requirements. Demonstrates understanding of job description performance expectations and competency assessment plan.

    Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our patients and families and consistently adheres to our Customer Service Standards.

    Highly visible and approachable leader who rounds frequently to engage with providers and staff at all levels to demonstrate appreciation genuinely listen and act upon identified barriers to achieving excellence.

    KEY FUNCTIONS Develops recommends and implements department and applicable provider practice policies and procedures designed to maintain effective and efficient operations and meet the expectations of those served.

    Reviews and maintains current and administrative policies and procedures. Revises Lifespan policies and procedures as necessary. Completes mandatory education system-wide department-specific and job-specific. Develops and maintains excellent relationships with all levels of Administration Management and Staff.

    Assists with maintaining continuous regulatory compliance with Joint Commission Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) and Department of Health standards for acute care hospitals.

Develops a high level of credibility in LPG Newport Hospital and beyond. Ensures that provider practices functions are in compliance with applicable regulatory licensure and accreditation standards.     Enhances professional knowledge and skills by such activities as participation in professional organizations or in local regional or national programs.

    HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Assists with recruitment interviewing selection and hiring of physicians advance practice providers and office staff.

    Develops provider retention strategy. Oversees provider schedules to ensure compliance with employment contract agreements and best practices. Oversees maintenance of provider credential files for Hospital privileges and insurance contracts. Performs annual review of provider files to ensure licensure malpractice and state/federal drug certificates are current. Demonstrates knowledge of employee relations policies and procedures and implements policies in a fair equitable and consistent manner. Assesses manpower needs including number of providers staff skill mix and appropriate schedules and budgets accordingly. Implements creative solutions to manpower planning. Organizes the provider practices to maximize the potential contribution of all employees. Develops and maintains competency-based job descriptions outlining duties responsibilities and requirements of jobs. In collaboration with providers interviews employment candidates and selects competent and qualified personnel for authorized vacant positions. In collaboration with providers assesses the competence of employees upon hire transfer and on an annual basis. Assessment considers age-specific and other unique needs of patients. Establishes and communicates clear performance expectations. Develops feedback loops to maintain ongoing communication. Performs ongoing performance assessment and completes annual performance reviews on a timely basis. Provides recognition of staffs achievements. Provides for education and professional development of providers and office staff. Counsels employees in a proactive fashion to sustain or improve job performance. Provides disciplinary action that is fair objective timely and developmental. Promotes opportunities for teamwork for all staff. Promotes employees participation in problem-solving and decision-making in matters affecting them. Assesses and analyzes competency patterns and learning/educational needs of staff based on supporting data.

    Develops an ongoing department education and training plan which encompasses safety issues competency and continual improvement processes which can be linked to department goals.

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT With input from providers develops and proposes annual practical operating budgets and capital expenditures for each practice location that will contribute towards improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of all services provided while meeting the needs of our patients the community physicians and our employees.

    Budgets should align with strategic plan. Collaborates with TBC Nurse Manager and Director of Perioperative Services for Newport Hospital capital equipment operating budgets. Execute against budget and seek opportunities for revenue generation and expense reduction. Plans develops and implements policies procedures and programs involving all applicable group practices that maximize departmental revenues.

    Reviews practice expenses regularly to identify ways to reduce costs while improving efficiency resulting in an overall net savings on the approved department budget.

    Manages and oversees employment contracts with providers as well as service agreements with relevant outside vendors and independent contractors. Develops and maintains benchmarking reports on all quality and performance metrics to achieve best practice results. Controls and accurately reports time worked by department employees for timely payroll preparation. Implements best practice staffing models aligned with industry standards.

    Analyzes practice results volume statistics billing data and expense and revenue trends in comparison to industry benchmarks and implementing changes as necessary.

    Ensures that policy and procedure manuals and other reference materials are current and accessible. MANAGEMENT OF PHYSICAL/TANGIBLE ASSETS Identifies evaluates and recommends equipment acquisition based on advances in technology and scope of service. Maintains assigned physical/tangible assets safely efficiently and in such a manner that they effectively perform their intended function. Coordinates a department-specific equipment management plan in accordance with the organizations overall equipment management plan. Prevents the loss or abuse of assigned assets. Manages supplies effectively. SAFETY AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of department-specific safety issues. Demonstrates leadership concerning safety issues within the organization and the department. Continuously identifies develops and enforces department-specific safety policies and procedures in accordance with the organizations overall safety policies. Organizes an effective department-specific safety training program for all department employees in accordance with hospital guidelines. Works with all leadership clinicians and staff to continuously develop manage and monitor Quality and Safety Improvement programs. Provides service line interface with Lifespan Quality Programs and Initiatives. Participates in meetings quality improvement teams and other committees. Works with Lifespan leadership to develop and monitor service line quality indicators. Recommends specific quality improvement initiatives for support staff. COMMUNICATION Maintains a communication style which promotes a culture of collaboration and transparency. Readily accepts and receives feedback from colleagues and staff creating safe environment for disagreement. Demonstrates effective presentation skills for meetings and formal presentations. Demonstrates effective writing skills for correspondence reports and other documents. Demonstrates active listening skills. Facilitates constructive dialogue to resolve conflicts. Collaborates with other leaders and relevant personnel to resolve problems and make decisions. Controls timely and appropriate flow of information throughout the department and the organization; keeps people informed. Plans and organizes constructive and effective meetings with meeting purpose and plan forward. Performs other duties as assigned.


    Other information:

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelors degree in business related field. Masters degree (MBA MHA MS) strongly preferred.


    EXPERIENCE:


    Minimum of 3-5 years physician/provider practice management experience preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex healthcare system with demonstrated leadership ability teamwork teaching and communication skills.

    Experience should exhibit an exceptional level of written and oral communication skill; ability to conceptualize develop and effect quality and safety; effective leadership/management skills and commitment to continuous quality improvement.

    Excellent organization time management and multitasking skills.

    Proficient with using Microsoft Applications especially Word Excel PowerPoint and TEAMS. Experience working with EPIC Lifechart preferred.

    Proven leadership track record in a multi-practice environment.

    Excellent relationship building skills required.
