The Royal Group, a subsidiary of Schwarz Partners is currently seeking Structural Designer to support our Cicero, IL facility.The Structural Designer is responsible for the design and development of protective packaging for a variety of industries and a range of packaging & shipping arenas while working to align customer priorities and production capabilities.
The Royal Group's mission is to provide value-added solutions to the most demanding customers.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Design or choose packaging components that best satisfy customer needs.
- Develop understanding of structural properties of corrugated board & leverage that knowledge to create effective, costefficient packaging.
- Utilize 2D and 3D software to design prototypes & generate specs to be used in production.
- Collaborate and provide technical advice to Design, Sales, Customer Service & Production to finetune designs that will meet customer expectations that can be manufactured efficiently.
- Generate prototypes and samples for client approval. Run CAD table to cut, fold & glue requested samples.
- Specs out supplied samples for quoting.
- Help maintain a clean and wellstocked working environment.
- Review existing accounts to recommend improvements and improve customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a positive, professional, cooperative demeanor, and working relationship with peers, management, customers, and other individuals that interact with this position.
- Ensure that all designs comply with relevant regulations and quality standards.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable packaging practices to incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in design, packaging, engineering or related field; or combination of industry experience, education or training is fully qualifying.
PREFFERED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in design, packaging, engineering, or related field.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- CAD proficiency.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Excellent customerservice and problemsolving skills, and the ability to handle multiple duties and assignments effectively and efficiently.
- 3D visualization, preferred.
- Working knowledge of structural principles & understanding, preferred.
- Proficient computer / communication skills, preferred.
- ArtiosCAD / CAPE, preferred.
