General Job Summary:
The instructor is responsible for teaching a full-time assignment of classes on the Emmetsburg Campus, as defined by the College.
Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures.

Effectively organize, teach, and evaluate student performance and progress in assigned course offerings in accordance with established syllabi. Assignments may include various delivery formats, methods, work schedules and locations.
Evaluate and record student performance and progress according to College and division guidelines.
Maintain current course syllabi and provide student guides for all courses taught.
Design and implement teaching methodologies for classroom and laboratory activities, which develop the competencies needed for individuals employed in welding.
Maintain compliance with grants, supervision of funded part-time staff, record keeping and reporting and communication with College Grants Office and Administration.

Maintain established office hours.
Serve as academic advisor to students and make referrals, when deemed necessary, to other College personnel, such as the Executive Dean, Counselors, Financial Aid, etc.

Assist in the development of new courses and revisions of existing courses in discipline area to ensure continued program growth and development.
Arrange lab sites for student practical experiences and monitor progress.Coordinate and obtain available welding supplies materials from area sources.

Assist in the process of requesting and maintaining instructional equipment and supplies for classrooms/laboratories use.
Assist the supervisor in the budgeting process.

Encourage and foster student participation in professional organizations, College activities, and community activities.
Serve as a club sponsor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Represent the College in the most positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, staff, and the community. Possess a commitment to a student-centered environment.
Ability to organize and present various curriculum concepts to a wide range of students with carrying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly.
Present oneself in a classroom setting in a manner that is acceptable and consistent with program and College guidelines, policies, and practices.
Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators and other contacts.
Read, understand and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written communications.
Possess strong human relations skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities and sensitive to various learning styles.
Be a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.Possess a working knowledge of personal computers, software (Microsoft Office and other applications) and educational media equipment.
Ability to operate tools and equipment unique to the welding industry.
Special Demands:
Position involves sitting or standing in an office or classroom/laboratory setting, which may include an actual industry welding site; the physical requirements of a welder are required.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least three years (6,000 hours ) of recent and relevant work experience required. Preference given for teaching experience and an Associate Degree.
Must be willing to become AWS certified and become experienced with all welding processes used at the College:
GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, OFW, OFC, PAC, Brazing and Soldering.
Salary:
Commensurate with education and related experience for a 179-day contract.
