Essential Duties:


  • Performs a variety of administrative, secretarial, and clerical duties, including transcription of correspondence, compiling reports, and preparing other documents.
  • Operate office equipment including personal computers, copy machines, and scanners.
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive facility information.
  • Receive telephone calls and visitors; tactfully refer them to the proper individual if the warden is not available.
  • Maintain calendar of events, schedule, appointments, and take minutes of meetings.
  • Maintain correspondence control log and coordinate preparation of special reports.
  • Prepare and submit monthly census report.

Qualifications:


  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Four (4) years of fulltime, wageearning clerical or secretarial experience or related experience and computer proficiency required.
  • Associate's degree in business administration, secretarial science or related field preferred.
  • Thirty (30) semester hours from a college or university accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each year of experience on a yearforyear basis for a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
  • A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual inservice training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
