Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA.
The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S.
Your role:
Spirit Maine
is seeking an energetic and organized Document Control Technician**.
The Document Control Technician will work with design, manufacturing and testing of advanced composites and the fabrication of high temperature insulation and industrial materials to support Quality Non-Destructive Testing.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains quality data records, compiles information, and prepares reports for internal and external customers
- Performs preliminary review and Material Review Board analysis and disposition of nonconforming material
- Provides support to manufacturing operations in the review of products and of engineering and manufacturing processes
- Performs product audits in accordance with FMI/customer/industry standards, reports results, assigns and monitors followup actions
- Performs duties required by the Quality Management System
- Trains inspection (audit) personnel on workmanship standards
- Applies quality standards for receiving, inprocess and final inspection in accordance with FMI and contractual requirements
- Communicates with manufacturing personnel on nonconformances
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in companywide QMS and LEAN initiatives, which includes compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Completes First Article inspections for manufactured items
What we need from you:
- High School diploma or GED
- Associate's degree or three years of relevant work experience
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, overtime and handle multiple/detailoriented tasks
- Knowledge of calibration equipment and processes, and ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
- Prior experience with incoming inspection reviewing supplier first article inspections
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret internal and customer provided blueprints
- Ability read blueprints, to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Versatile in all aspects of inspection techniques
- Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and nontechnical terms
- Able to complete responsibilities with a sense of urgency and with a professional and quality manner
- Demonstrated results in communication, resolving conflicts, decisiveness, commitment to company objectives, and establishing motivational work environment
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn; seek out development activities to improve skills and increase knowledge; learn from other team members and own mistakes
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced environment
Preferred:
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector or ASQ Certified Quality Technician certification
