Position Overview:

Responsibilities:


Laboratory Management:

  • Oversee daytoday laboratory operations, including sample processing, analysis of lead and asbestos using various analytical techniques (e.g., atomic absorption spectrometry, Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)), TEM transmission electron microscopy and reporting.
  • Manage lab employees and set up schedules
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NYSDOH, NVLAP, AIHA, EPA, OSHA, NIOSH) specific to lead and asbestos testing.
  • Maintain, develop, implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample handling, testing, and data analysis.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment specific to lead and asbestos analysis.
  • The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in establishing and optimizing the LIMS system within our laboratory, enhancing efficiency, data management, and overall workflow.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC):
○ Implement and maintain a robust QA/QC program to ensure the accuracy and reliability of lead and asbestos test results.

○ Perform regular audits and inspections of laboratory processes and procedures specific to lead and asbestos testing.

○ Investigate and address any deviations or discrepancies in test results.

  • Lead and Asbestos Testing:
○ Lead and oversee the analysis of lead and asbestos samples using various analytical techniques (e.g., AAS, atomic absorption spectrometry, GFAA graphite furnace atomic absorption, Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)) TEM transmission electron microscopy.

○ Interpret test results and prepare accurate and comprehensive reports for clients.

○ Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and new testing methodologies related to lead and asbestos analysis.

  • Team Leadership and Training:
○ Lead and mentor laboratory staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.

○ Conduct training sessions on laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.

○ Host lab meetings to discuss lead and asbestos testing processes and best practices.

○ Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement within the laboratory team.

  • Client Communication and Support:
○ Collaborate with clients to understand their testing needs and provide technical support and guidance as needed.

○ Communicate test results and findings effectively to clients, addressing any questions or concerns in a timely manner.

○ Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness.


Qualifications:

  • BS/MS/PHD in environmental science, chemistry, or a related field

Preferred:
a strong focus on environmental testing for lead and asbestos.

  • 6+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a focus on environmental testing for lead and asbestos.
- +2 years Manger experiences

  • Strong knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation used in lead and asbestos analysis.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing environmental testing (e.g., NYSDOH, NVLAP, AIHA, NIOSH, EPA, ASTM).
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal and multitasking skills

Job Type:

Salary:
Competitive, Commensurate with experience, Signing bonus negotiable

$85, $99,000.00 per year
