The Dept of Transportation Stormwater Permitting Engineering Associate serves as a senior level staff engineering associate to lead review of Stormwater Pollution Plans for roadway projects being undertaken by the South Carolina Department of Transportation
Job duties:
•Reviews complex Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), roadway plans, and other SCDOT projects for conformance with standards, policies and sound engineering principles in the areas of?stormwater quality and quantity design, erosion and sediment control, and applications related to land disturbance permits as indicated in the TCGP SCR160000 and pursuant to applicable regulatory and statutory authority. Utilizes extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering in carrying out this duty.
•Coordinates with professional, technical, and clerical personnel from SCDOT and their consultants in review of SWPPPs. Participates in project scoping meetings as necessary.
•Coordinates with OCRM, DHEC Water Quality Division, and other internal divisions as necessary to facilitate complete, timely review of SWPPPs.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master's degree in engineering or architecture and entry-level engineering or architectural work experience may be substituted for the required experience. A master's degree in engineering and one (1) year of experience in environmental engineering; or a master's degree in engineering and two (2) years of experience in engineering; or a bachelor's degree in engineering and two (2) years of experience in environmental engineering; or a bachelor's degree in engineering and three (3) years of experience as an engineer. The education must qualify the applicant to become registered as a Level A Professional Engineer in South Carolina and must meet one of the education requirements outlined on the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulations website found at:
If the applicant is utilizing the substantially equivalent education' pathway, the approval letter from LLR must be final at time of application.
Institutions of higher learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
