As a Senior Electrical Quality Engineer, you will act with safety, efficiency, quality and productivity to assure that products and systems meet stated requirements, employing various test protocols and applying standards to ensure quality.
This role supports ABB's Electrification Distribution Solutions operations in Minden, LA.Your responsibilitiesDevelop and implement Project Quality Plan for assigned jobs, perform Structural, Mechanical and Electrical In-Process inspections of the eHouses at the vendors location; identify quality defects or non-conformance issues, generate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) to the vendors and lead the closure of open quality issues on projectsCo-ordinate and oversee Factory Acceptance Tests at the factories and ensure product conformance to specifications and approved design drawings; co-ordinate Integrated Factory Acceptance Tests with customer, suppliers, and internal stake holders at the eHouse vendors, lead resolution of punch list elements prior to shipmentRead and interpret as-built electrical equipment and PDC (Power Distribution Center) drawings (single line, general arrangements, schematics and wiring diagrams, etc.) and communicate effectively with suppliers and customersCo-ordinate installation, integration and testing of electrical equipment inside PDC with supplier(integrator) and field services teamEnsure that established quality procedures are adhered to during the project lifecycle, and all checklists are signed off prior to the shipment release of the eHousesDevelop Safety plan for the project and ensure the Safety and EHS processes are being followed by the ABB representatives, vendors & customers; take the lead in documenting, investigating, and resolving any safety related issues during the project executionDevelop a cooperative relationship approach with the vendors ensuring that the ABB Quality standards are met; attend customer job sites to address any quality claims submitted by the customer, and work with the project team and supplier to prepare action plans to address issues in a timely mannerIdentify opportunities for improvement in project execution or product design and communicate to the engineering and manufacturing teams; support the organization with maintaining ISO certification through strong adherence to established QMS; perform new supplier qualification audits and routine audits of existing suppliersYour backgroundBS/BA degree with minimum 3 years of field experience in Electrical Distribution industry requiredMinimum 5 years' experience in quality, manufacturing, supply chain, field servicesPrevious E-House including LV and MV equipment experienceFluent in English; Spanish is a plus; proficient with MS Word, Excel, MS Project, other project management toolsGood knowledge of Power Equipment products, processes, and solutionsTravel required up to 25% on short noticeCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.More about usABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity.
