TITLE:
Office Administrative Assistant


PURPOSE:
The Office Administrative Assistant at Faith Church is vital for effectively managing administrative tasks.


COMPENSATION:
$15-22 hourly, depending on expertise and experience; no other employment benefits included for this position.


WORK HOURS:
Typically, 8:30AM - 2:00PM, Tuesday through Thursday, with an unpaid 30-minute lunch break.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:


  • Excellent command of the English language, with advanced writing, composition, and communication skills.
  • Ability to create, review, and proofread communication materials such as newsletters, bulletins, and electronic mailings.
  • Good interpersonal skills for effective interaction with the public, volunteers, and church officials, maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Capacity to maintain confidentiality, particularly in handling sensitive information related to church affairs and congregational communications.
  • Quick to learn and adapt to new communication tools and software, enhancing the efficiency and impact of church communications.
  • A strong team player who can comfortably adapt to various communication tasks within a small office environment.
  • Ability to handle light physical demands related to communication material preparation and distribution.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
To the Business Manager, as immediate supervisor


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Administrative Support and Office Reception:


  • Provide administrative support to the pastor and assist in various minor tasks such as coordinating visitations, travel, funerals & weddings.
  • Support office staff and church leadership with communicationrelated tasks and facility scheduling.
  • Assist with answering phones, taking messages, greeting visitors, and handling routine inquiries.
  • Assist in maintaining membership files and church records.

Communication:


  • Manage and maintain the event calendar with a focus on communication.
  • Utilize tools such as Planning Center Online, Canva, and MailChimp for effective communication.
  • Create, review, and proofread materials for publications like church newsletters, sermons, and bulletins.

Liaison and Office Management:


  • Arrange appointments between the pastor, other staff members, and congregation.
  • Maintain office property, including inventory and equipment maintenance.
  • Prepare, copy, and distribute external materials like bulletins, newsletters, and congregational letters.
  • Assist in maintaining office supplies within the budget constraints and coordinate church office volunteers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
High School diploma required. Associates or bachelor's degree, a plus.

Experience:

Demonstrate experience working with office software, preferably in an office environment, church office experience, a plus; must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and discreetly handle confidential information.

$ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
