Media Engineering


Media Engineering is an innovative organization that is focused on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers around the world, powered by exceptional technology.

This strategic work requires streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels - including streaming, linear, and theatrical - so that technology can ebb and flow across the needs of the business.


Responsibilities:


  • Build a diverse software development team through training, career development, recruiting, and process improvements
  • Lead the roadmap and engineering vision for a critical suite of tools within the Disney streaming platform
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other business partners to prioritize work and set goals for the team
  • Refine engineering practices and enact positive change within the team
  • Champion your team's work across the organization

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field), or equivalent training or work experience
  • 8+ years of proven experience with at least 2+ years of technical and engineering leadership experience
  • Experience leading software engineering teams to build distributed software services and userfacing products, run multiple concurrent projects of high technical complexity and deliver high efficiency processing systems
  • Handson experience with some combination of Java/Spring, React, Webpack, Python, and the AWS ecosystem of services
  • A tendency to delegate, but with the ability to get handson when needed
  • Ability to work in an environment where services are available 24x7 and oncall incidents may occur
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
