Job Summary:

The goal of Employment Specialist is to work with clients on job readiness skills, career assessment and planning, as well as assisting with opportunities to complete GED or further their education.

Assesses and determines program eligibility for new referrals.

Assist program referrals to complete necessary paperwork during the orientation process and is responsible for interviewing, assessment and placement of participants.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly placement assignments of eligible participants. Interviewing skills and knowledge of employment guidelines a plus. Knowledge of standard business practice and management also a plus.
  • Work with the Program Coordinator to ensure that participants are properly matched in placement sites.
  • Meet one on one, at office, with new referrals to verify eligibility
  • Meet one on one, with program participants to assess specific needs, identify goals, and prepare action plans for achieving the goals.
  • Keep and maintain accurate and up to date client files at the office. This includes entering case notes and data in database and client's file.
  • Track and report outcomes and provide data updates on participants as directed.
  • Participate in on site and off site trainings and meetings, as needed.
  • Assist Program Manager in prepare for monthly staffing at local FCRC offices
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in social work, international development, or related field; or one to two years of related training and experience.
  • Fluency in language spoken by refugee population preferred.
  • Selfdirected, motivated, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of public benefits system in Maryland: TCA, Medicaid, Food stamps, SSI, and subsidized housing.
  • Previous experience interacting with refugees and general knowledge of resettlement practices in the U.S.
  • Strong written communication skills, ability to write reports and to make presentations.
  • Highly organized, detailorientated and extensive documentation skills required.
  • Cross cultural sensitivity and knowledge with the ability and desire to work with people of other cultures.
  • Maintains punctuality for work, appointments and report dates.
  • Must work well in a team setting.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and access to own transportation
  • Required computer skills: Word, Excel, Internet, Gmail, Outlook. Comfortable utilizing new programs and databases.
  • Background check and clean driving record.

Pay:
$50,000.00 per year
