The Director of People Operations will work from the company's headquarters in Harlem River Yard - NYC, reporting to the Head of People.

The Director will have a vital role in the People Leadership Team, working towards transforming our workplace culture and emphasizing the growth and well-being of our employees, with a specific focus on hourly employees' environments.


Responsibilities:


  • Design and implement comprehensive people strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives in a transforming group that's pioneering ecommerce and grocery delivery in the US, with a specific focus on union dynamics.
  • Collaborate closely with the COO and Operations leadership to ensure People initiatives support overall business objectives.
  • Oversee employee engagement, performance management and workforce planning to enhance organization effectiveness.
  • Drive initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, focusing on employee satisfaction and retention, with an understanding of the complexities introduced by a unionized environment.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels between management and employees, addressing concerns and promoting transparency, with a keen awareness of the communication dynamics in a unionized workforce.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that comply with state and federal requirements, including those specific to labor law and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the People team to develop relevant solutions, programs and policies.
  • Identify training needs and individual performance and coaching needs.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Followup to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Lead a team of People Business Partners providing ongoing management, coaching and development.

Education and Qualifications:


  • Proven track record of strategic leadership in senior HR roles, preferably at the Sr HRBP or Director level.
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing people strategies, especially in unionized environments.
  • Strong understanding of HR dynamics, including talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive workplace culture and achieve employee satisfaction and retention goals in a unionized context.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a highperforming team.
  • Strategic thinker with a resultsoriented mindset.
