Summary


The Ground Hand works closely with Ground Lead (Foreman) to assist in pouring foundations, install fencing, install grounding and maintain area surrounding towers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cadwelding as required, etc.
  • Assist on overall job including ground work, all tasks required to build and install a site per customer specs, maintain safe work environment, daily use and completion of JHA forms, assisting with overall crew work, maintenance of vehicles and equipment, etc.
  • Must have working knowledge of drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs. including body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state, for up to several weeks at a time
  • Must pass preemployment screening that includes background and drug testing
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
  • Ability to operate different types of equipment such as backhoe, forklift, electrical and hand tools
  • Successful completion of industrial First Aid and Rescue Training
  • Valid driver's license a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Must be able to work well independently and in a team environment on a crew; be a valued member of the team and the company.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone and radio with Supervisor, Foreman and coworkers

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with overtime requirements

This is a safety sensitive position


Travel
Extensive travel is required for this position; usually between 50 to 90% of the time.


Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); related trade school education preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working on a tower construction crew
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a construction crew to complete projects
