Behavior Support Specialist


Classification:
PRN (On Call, as needed)


Available Shifts:
A Shift, 6:30 am - 2:30 pm

B Shift, 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm

C Shift, 10:30 pm - 6:30 am (Flexible 8 hour shifts, Mon-Sun)

Weekends, 6:30 am - 10:30 pm (Flexible 8 hour shifts, Sat-Sun)

Position Description:


Behavior Support Specialist PRN is called to fill in for an absent employee or to cover a special situation as needed.


A PRN is required to:

(1) Work a minimum of four shifts per month; (2) Work at least two agency recognized holidays per year; and (3) Contact your supervisor weekly to inform him/her of your availability to work.
The Behavior Support Specialist is accountable, under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, for the safety and wellbeing of the children and youth assigned to their care. This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the interventions and activities designed to promote growth and a stable environment as children and youth move through the program toward permanent placement.


Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR (May be obtained upon hire)
  • Must participate in behavior management and physical restraint training once hired.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Relevant experience working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Bachelor's degree in a human or social servicerelated field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of residential service's safety practices and protocols for children and adolescents.
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness in dealing with new problems and changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations and work force.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which vary according to client needs.

  • Range of Schedule:
  • A Shift, 6:30 am 2:30 pm
  • B Shift, 2:30 pm 10:30 pm
  • C Shift, 10:30 pm 6:30 am (Flexible 8 hour shifts, Mon-Sun)
  • Weekends: 6:30 am 10:30 pm (Flexible 8 hour shifts, Sat-Sun)
  • Travel: Occasional, Drives agency vehicle (Valid Texas Driver License required)
  • May require physical restraint of clients
  • Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
