Description

The Volunteer Resources Assistant is responsible for oversight of the hospital's Coffee Cove operations, including offering support, training and orientating volunteers assigned to staff the Coffee Cove along with promoting food safety and sanitation, inventory control, product quality, and excellent customer service.

Explores opportunities for business growth as well as develops and implements short and long term business plans collaboratively with the Lead Volunteer Coordinator and hospital's Volunteer Council.

Responsible for the cash handling of Coffee Cove and Gift Shop revenues including cash register prep, accounting, and deposits. Supports the daily activities of the Volunteer Resources Office and Gift Shop as needed. Reports to the Lead Volunteer Resources Coordinator.

This is a temporary position, ending around the end of July or early August.

Wage:
$14.75-$19.62


Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
Operational Support

Oversees all aspects of the hospital's Coffee Cove operations with the goal of exceeding customers' expectations.
Oversees day to day operations making sure there is appropriate and adequate products with efficient inventory control and works with Gift Shop Coordinator on product purchasing
Ensures food safety and sanitation expectations are met.
Supports training and orientating of volunteers assigned to Coffee Cove and Gift Shop as needed.

Leadership Support

In collaboration with Lead Volunteer Coordinator and Volunteer Council, develops and implements plans for business growth and sustainability.

Cash Handling

Assures safe and proper cash handling for Coffee Cove and Gift Shop.
Establishes cash handling routines for daily cash register prep, closing, cash records, and deposits.
Works with the Gift Shop Coordinator to create cash revenue and expense reports.

Volunteer Program Support

Assists and supports the activities of the Volunteer Resources Office and Gift Shop.
Supports Lead Volunteer Coordinator when needed (i.e. prepares and delivers coffee to Council and Committee meetings, print/deliver patient census sheets to Info Desk, back up support for Gift Shop opening).
Upholds and supports the Volunteer department Policies and Procedures.
Interacts with the hospital's Volunteer Council and other key stakeholder groups.
Attends and participates in Volunteer Council meetings and functions as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous retail experience required
  • Previous retail experience in food service preferred
  • Previous cash register and/or Point of Sale experience required
