Provide leadership MH-60R Training to Foreign Military students employing academics, simulation devices and flight training. Provide full range of MH-60R Subject Matter Expertise in development of safe, sound flight operations, maintenance and training.

May provide additional special services such as courseware and publication reviews, safety, quality audits, scheduling, and other duties as may be assigned.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Duties of the Sensor Operator Instructor (SOI) is to lead and will involve direct interface with foreign sensor operator transition trainees, active-duty Navy instructors and other users and/or trainers/equipment (when a SOI is manning trainer/equipment instructor station(s) or providing direct classroom instruction).


  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Sensor Operator/Aircrew Instructors
  • Conduct scheduled SOI led/supported training for Training Device and Systems Training (including briefs and debriefs) using traditional and modern tools such as interactive white boards, computers and video projector systems.
  • Evaluate and document student training/mission performance as required.
  • Evaluate and record trainer performance in accordance with established Navy doctrine.
  • Review curriculum, assess and recommend improvements to the training program via the appropriate training management officials.
  • Provide classroom instruction and recommendations for improvement, to include tests and test materials, lesson plans, and trainee guides under the guidelines of current directives.
  • Conduct training device operation instruction to personnel as necessary, to include briefing, debriefing and grading/assessments.
  • Perform flights and flight training consistent with USG approved flight syllabus
  • Provide academic instruction to include Instructor led lecture discussion for selfpaced Computer Aided Instruction (CAI), Computer Based Training (CBT), etc. in support of courses required for MH60R Sensor Operators.
  • Attend required scheduled meetings (e.g., Scheduling, Standardization, Instructor Aircrew.
  • Perform administrative duties such as record keeping, monitoring student progress, counseling, quality assurance, safety, security, and maintenance of training programs and equipment.
  • Must maintain a Class II Flight Physical and remain current/proficient as SOI iaw Naval aviation flight doctrine and other contract governing directives.
  • Must maintain proficiency in operation of essential MH60R Aircrew Training Devices.
  • Aviation instruction is a highly specialized function that requires the instructor to have prior aircraft operating experience and the ability to hold creditability and the attention of the customer attendees.
  • Must acquire and maintain instrument, takeoff, landing, and emergency procedure and mission tactics proficiency.
  • Documenting all training activities in accordance with established procedures at host command and company requirements.
  • Safely conducting classroom, lab, simulator and flight instruction. Maintaining a clean workspace and classroom environment.
  • Assisting the IMSO as required for support of student movement through the training program.
  • Assisting in the administrative duties including student and instructor scheduling, and training tracking.
  • Standing external door security/entry control into secured facility.
  • Assisting with other administrative and nonadministrative duties as assigned.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • SOI shall have a minimum of 300 hours as an MH60R Sensor Operator (AWRtype).
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years instructional experience in an aircrew training environment on MH60R.
  • Possess and maintain a Class II Flight Physical
  • After required refresh training, pass a NATOPs evaluation administered by designated Naval authority
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.

Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance:


  • SOI shall undergo, and be required to pass, a periodic instructor assessment, in accordance with Standing Instructions (Navy Aviation), by US Naval or contract authority
  • SOI shall undergo and pass, a periodic MH 60R check flight, in accordance with Standing Instructions (Navy Aviation), by SQN or delegate.
  • Required to maintain an annual A2I, Authority to Instruct, certification in accordance with Standing Instructions (Navy Aviation) standards.
