    Department Overview


    The Institute on Development & Disability (IDD), Division of Pediatric Psychology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty member with expertise in pediatric neuropsychological/psychological assessment of youth with complex developmental disabilities and special health care needs.

    This is an Assistant Professor level position that will support the Cleft and Craniofacial (CCF) Clinic and the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) clinics at Doernbecher Children's Hospital which is Oregon's top-ranked children's hospital and part of the region's only academic medical center.

    The CCF Program as well as the CDRC incorporate service, scholarship, and teaching consistent with the mixed mission of OHSU.

    As a referral center for the entire region, the clinic population is diverse, with about 20% of families being of non-white race, about 20% being of Latinx ethnicity, and a large majority using public insurance.


    The position involves offering clinical care as well as effort devoted to education, training, and scholarship, consistent with the vision and mission OHSU.

    The Division of Pediatric Psychology comprises 25 faculty and has well-developed training programs with rich opportunities available for supervision, training, and mentorship.

    Trainees include psychology graduate students, interns (APA accredited program), postdoctoral fellows, and medical students/residents. Research and other scholarly activities within the Division of Pediatric Psychology and Pediatrics are available and encouraged.

    OHSU is a dynamic academic medical center with medical, nursing, and dental schools, a PhD program in clinical psychology, and postdoctoral and internship training programs.

    OHSU Hospital, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, the Portland VA Hospital, and Shriner's Hospital are situated on the same campus. OHSU and the VA together have nearly 100 active clinical psychologists, creating a large and diverse psychology faculty community.

    Function/Duties of Position


    • Provision of direct care for youth (birth-21 years) and their families; emphasis will be on psychological/neuropsychological care through the CCF Clinic and CDRC, with opportunities to include therapeutic supports and interventions.
    • Assist with program development and quality improvement activities within the multidisciplinary CCF and CDRC clinics
    • Other duties include service on various IDD/Pediatrics/OHSU committees as appropriate; engagement in community service through teaching and consultation activities; and conducting clinical research
    • Supervising psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, and/or postdoctoral fellows
    • Other duties as determined by the Division Head of Pediatric Psychology and the Director of the IDD to meet the needs of the Division of Pediatric Psychology and the Institute.
    Required Qualifications


    • PhD/PsyD degree in psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program
    • APA-accredited internship with specialization in child psychology
    • Advanced training in child assessment or pediatric neuropsychology
    • License-eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Oregon
    • Experience working with infants, children, adolescents, and/or young adults with medical and neurodevelopmental conditions, including assessment and treatment
    • Ability to complete a wide variety of standardized and non-standardized evaluation activities including developmental assessment of infants and young children (e.g., Bayley Scales of Infant Development)
    • Experience working in hospital and/or academic medical center settings and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
    • Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, and experience with or potential for leading quality improvement and program development efforts
    • Demonstrated potential to contribute to the OHSU missions of scholarship, education, and advocacy
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Specialization in pediatric psychology
    • Background in treating children with disabilities/special health care needs
