    Summary

    This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

    The Outpatient Behavioral Health RN Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for the nursing practice process of the Outpatient Behavioral Health nursing staff. Responsibilities include working with Outpatient Behavioral Health Leadership to coordinate, develop, and implement nursing education, nursing proficiencies and competency assessment, as well as assist and support programing in Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinics.

    Functions include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure and monitor Behavioral Health Service Line Outpatient nursing staff coordination of care through leading team huddles, coordinate rotation between nursing and social work staff for front-line triage for Same Day Access outpatient behavioral health clinic.
  • Participate in clinical case conference, facility-wide grand rounds, patient, and family education.
  • Educational responsibilities include training and competency for 1) psychiatric nursing assessments, 2) suicide risk assessments, 3) safety plan development,4) facilitation of cognitive screening exams (MMSE, MoCA), 5) facilitation of Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) testing, 6) follow-up of abnormal lab results, and 7) administration of depot medication injections.
  • Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others
  • Demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for complex situations that effect performance outcomes at the point of care
  • Executes position responsibilities that demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.
  • Leading and organizing delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning
  • Using advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes
  • Functioning as an expert in clinical practice and/or areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities
  • Systematically evaluating current practice, and formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within an area of expertise
  • Guiding, developing, and supporting staff from a leadership perspective, and using professional standards of care, scientific evidence, and practice to evaluate programs and/or service activities.
  • Demonstrates expertise in leadership at the systems level that is sustainable, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex situations.
  • Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
    Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

    Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
