- Work closely with the DoD customer and stakeholders throughout the system's lifecycle, covering development, integration & testing, deployment, and operations of a sophisticated ground system architecture.
- Assist in building mission-critical, highly available, high-performance networked systems within a team-oriented environment.
- Create systems engineering-related documentation, such as operational concepts, requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans.
- Conduct system planning and design to expand resources in line with program requirements.
- Support trade studies related to ground systems.
- Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and the capability to obtain or maintain a polygraph if necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 8 years' experience in a Systems Engineering related role; OR a Master's degree with at least 6 years' experience in a Systems Engineering related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Experience working with Windows-based operating systems, scripting languages for task automation, and system configuration automation software (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.).
- Experience in system integration and testing, along with system configuration of networked services, file systems, and authentication processes.
- Skills in Operating System administration for Red Hat 7.x, including system builds from scratch, software installations, troubleshooting operating systems and applications, and security enhancements.
- Direct hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with distributed computing technologies.
- Proficiency in virtualization/cloud-based technologies (e.g. OpenStack, Citrix XenServer Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, VMWare), Docker Containers, Ansible, and Heat templates.
- Experience with front-end processing and network gateway appliances and/or software.
- Experience in designing, developing, and integrating a complete satellite ground system, including infrastructure, processing frameworks, and software components.
- Familiarity with Object-oriented development practices, open architecture systems, distributed computing technologies, web services, SOA, networking technologies, requirements management tools, scripting, automated test tools, modeling and simulation, and security certification and accreditation processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to express thoughts clearly and effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with management, customers, and stakeholders across DoD.
