Brief Description of Duties
The Events & Operations Coordinator manages various duties including scheduling space, coordinating logístical details for events, and building/theater operations. Provides on-site evening/weekend supervision of event operations as directed by the supervisor. Hires, trains, and supervises event staff.

Responsibilities:
- Direct event operations to ensure spaces are eventready which include opening and closing facilities, liaising with other university staff as necessary. Perform walkthrough of spaces used for events to monitor customer use and needs. Upkeep and organize event inventory while following proper action and/or reporting protocols.
- Provide coordination of department event staff (crowd control, audience management, ushers, etc.) at events held in university venues as assigned.
- Coordinate timely nonclassroom scheduling space scheduling (using 25Live) to meet the needs of the University community and external clients.
- Coordinate logístical details for meetings and events which includes, but is not limited to, client walkthroughs, onsite support, U.D.C. Theater of the Arts management, room setups, catering coordination, audiovisual services, parking/transportation, internet access, security staffing, and planning.
- Recruit, hire, and train staff. Provide secondary supervision to other staff on duty regarding the coordination of event execution and logistics.
- Serve as House Manager for U.D.C. Theater of the Arts. Liaisons regularly with Theater's technical staff to coordinate overall smoothrunning operations for the Theater.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned that are related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Two (2) years of progressive experience in event management and customer service in a higher education environment. Experience in theater management is a plus.
- Experience hiring, training, and supervising staff.
- Sound understanding of event services (event planning, space scheduling, conference services, etc.)
- Experience using scheduling software programs such as 25Live or EMS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen, clearly articulate thoughts/directions/expectations and develop reports/proposals and make presentations.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with VIP guests, senior government officials, a diverse population of students (posttraditional and international), academic departments, external organizations, and the public.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit.

At this time, the University of the District of Columbia does not provide sponsorship for visas (e.g. H-1B). This position is also ineligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).

The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.
