Back End Developer Lead - Torrance, United States - Honda
Description
Job PurposeKey Accountabilities**- Technical lead with hands on experience in designing, implementing & maintaining multitiered, micro-services based systems.
- Responsible for leading the teams' technological and architectural decisions, engineering best practices including clean & modular coding, test driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
- Is a handson team member who actively coaches the team to solve complex problems and to grow professionally
- Write highquality, selfdocumenting code using testdriven development techniques.
- Partner with product team, designers, operations and other stakeholders and be able to give/receive feedback and suggest tradeoffs when required.
- Work closely with backend developers to understand and properly use the systems APIs.
- Write both unit and integration tests and develop automation tools for daily tasks.
- Challenge ideas and opinions to avoid pitfalls and inefficient solutions.
- Ensure quality of delivered milestones using proper unit testing and UI testing.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or similar field
- Masters/Graduate degree in Computer science, Information Technology or similar field preferred.
- Qualifications
- Preferred knowledge in the auto industry (dealership, service, sales, etc.)
- Familiarity with fast paced collaborative and iterative software development workflow for mobile and web development that involves multiple crossfunctional partners.
- Ability to write highquality, selfdocumenting code using testdriven development techniques.
- Strong knowledge and experience with best practices in software engineering including latest coding standards, CI/CD, unit testing, integration testing, security practices, design patterns and other industry standards.
- Sound knowledge of design patterns, system API's, security standards, scalability & performance, 3rd party backend integrations.
- Ability to challenge ideas and opinions to avoid pitfalls and inefficient solutions.
- Familiarity with testing and debugging processes, including unit testing, API testing and UI testing.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills effective to work in geographically distributed crossfunctional team.
- Ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Experience working in a startup / agile organization is preferred.
- Knowledge of opensource platforms, 3rd party, and cross platform integrations is a plus.
