Duties:


Joining Customs and Border Protection, Office Information and Technology will allow you to use your expertise in Information Technology (IT) principles, concepts and methods to support IT systems and services.


This position starts at a salary of $163, GS-15, Step 1) to $191, GS-15, Step 10) with promotion potential to $191,900 (GS-15 Step 10).

In this Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (Security) position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals providing leadership, management, direction and advocacy for IT solutions


Typical work assignments include:

  • Directing a major organizational program segment with significant resources.
  • Finding and implementing ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production promote team building or improve business practices.
  • Leading the development of an enterprise cybersecurity strategy and implementation plan by establishing priorities for cybersecurity investments building business cases and determining total cost of investment.
  • Establishing implementing and interpreting requirements for agency compliance with higherlevel policy directives and executive orders governing infrastructure protection planning and leading efforts to address security issues in new cyber areas where precedents do not exist and establishing new security concepts and approaches.

Along with the four competencies listed above you must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience described below to qualify based on experience.

Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Assisting in long-range planning for IT cybersecurity structures that anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate, and reduce dangers related to IT structures vulnerabilities.
  • Reviewing and evaluating cybersecurity incident response policies and identifying changes needed based on new security technologies or threats.
  • Leading the implementation of cybersecurity programs designed to anticipate assess and minimize system vulnerabilities.
  • Resolving integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure.
