    TheNational WWII Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Director of TeacherPrograms. Reporting directly to theDirector of Teaching and Learning, this position provides leadership indefining the scope and direction of the Museum's teacher professionaldevelopment initiatives and curriculum creation. The Assistant Director managesa team of educators developing standards-aligned curriculum in social studiesbut also across subject matter. They also oversee and develop plans to expandMuseum outreach to educators both locally and nationally through onsite,offsite, and online initiatives. They will present training sessions on contentand pedagogy at the Museum, online, and across the country. This individualhelps to set and achieve goals, manage work flow, ensure efficient knowledgetransfer, and assist with preparing relevant budgets and fundraising proposals.The Assistant Director works within the Education Department team, and withother departments throughout the Museum to plan programmatic calendars 24months out.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manageand support a team of educators actively working with teachers to successfullyplan and execute their projects, programs, and initiatives.
    • Developa strategy, with support from the team, for curriculum and content creation forthe classroom, teacher outreach, and professional development.
    • Bethe lead administrator for the Museum's onsite Professional Developmentinitiatives, including but not limited to annual intensive summer trainingprograms, one-day workshops, and onsite teacher events.
    • Assistteam in curriculum design and presentation of teacher professional developmentprograms.
    • Workwith the Director of Teaching and Learning and the Associate Vice President ofEducation to define and refine K-12 education goals and priorities. Ensurequality, accessibility, and distribution of the Museum's K-12 curriculum andcontent.
    • Workwith the team to expand and refine teacher initiatives by ensuring full androbust program design, documentation, and evaluation of programs.
    • Collaboratewith the team to establish a 24-month planning calendar to grow, fund, andpromote staff and programs.
    • Investin and develop staff by better delegating responsibility, evaluatingperformance, encouraging professional development, and creating opportunitiesfor leadership and creative collaborations within the department and throughoutthe Museum.
    • Workwith Institutional Advancement Department to create funding proposals forteacher initiatives and classroom content.
    • Assistthe Education Department and the President's Office with planning and logisticsfor meetings of the Presidential Counselors, Board Education & AccessCommittee, Board Executive Committee, and the Board of Trustees.
    • Participatein assigned task forces, staff committees, projects, assignments, tasks, directed by the Director of Teaching and Learning and/or the Associate VicePresident of Education.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor'sdegree required (Master's degree preferred) in education, history, artsadministration, museum education, or related field.
    • Minimumtwo years' experience managing a team.
    • Minimumfive years' experience working with elementary and/or secondary school studentsand teachers in a museum, school, or other educational setting.
    • Demonstratedexperience developing and executing classroom curricula and professionaldevelopment experiences is a must. Familiarity with both state-level andnational standards across disciplines.
    • Strongplanning and organizational skills.
    • Exceptionalwritten, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Willingnessto work overtime during special events or heavy programmatic and visitationperiods to meet deadlines.
