Front Desk responsibilities include handling check-ins and check-outs for both in-person and telehealth visits; making reminder calls; pre-registering patients; managing appointment and referral work queues.

Conducting patient interviews to gather necessary information, such as demographics, biography, and insurance details. Ensuring accurate entry of information into EPIC (Pre-registration system).


Scanning patient ID, insurance cards, referral forms, and consent forms into the document imaging system.

Assisting in proper handling of patients' protected health information to maintain HIPAA compliance.

Ensuring timely billing procedures, verifying insurance eligibility for accurate demographic and insurance information (commercial, managed care, etc.)

Delivering professional and high-quality customer service to patients following department protocols and utilizing the EPIC system/ICARE values.

Supporting the patient care team in providing comprehensive, patient-focused care.


Accepting various forms of patient payments and following cash reconciliation policies and cashier procedures.

Issuing payment receipts through the EPIC Cash Management system.


Reconciling all payments received, preparing daily cash reconciliation reports, and submitting them for review.

Updating patient installment agreements and ensuring correct payment amounts.

Overseeing the tasks of Clericals Ills in their assignments.

Providing registration and customer service training as required.

Distributing MetroCards to patients.

Offering bilingual services to patients utilizing the Interpreter Service when necessary.

Contributing to a patient-satisfaction and staff-engagement supportive environment.

Documenting and following up with reminder calls.

Using EPIC to monitor no-shows, cycle time, and TNAA for effective daily management.

Maintaining a safe patient environment by adhering to safety policies and attending scheduled education programs.

Ensuring medical form (MSQ11) is provided to the appropriate provider for completion.

Responsible for upholding Cultural Competency and Network Customer Service standards

Reviewing and validating accuracy of recorded data in billing systems as necessary

Keeping work area organized and tidy.

Providing clerical coverage when needed.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • A high school diploma or equivalent education; and
  • Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or public interaction experience, such as sales processing; order taking, processing, and delivery; information retrieval and dissemination; addressing customer concerns, issues, and complaints; and/or similar customer service tasks.
