Position Overview


Based in the Washington, DC office with a focus on sustainability, the Office Manager, Foundation Services will play a pivotal role in managing the efficient functioning of the office's organizational operations while integrating sustainable practices and initiatives.

The Manager will ensure that the employee/guest experience in the Foundation's DC office is delivered professionally, proactively, efficiently, and responsibly.

The Manager, Foundation Services (FS-DC) will report to the Managing Director (MD) and manage the Administrative Assistant and Team Coordinator.


Pay Range:
$120,369 - $150,000. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation's pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.


Work Schedule:

This position is based in Washington, DC, and is required to be on-site Monday - Friday with occasional flexibility for a flexible schedule.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the Managing Director, ensure facility management, administrative services, procurement, and vendor management are managed through sustainable practices and initiatives to reduce the organization's environmental footprint.
  • Partner with the MD on efficient and sustainable space usage and planning, and liaise with Human Resources to coordinate staff space planning needs specifically related to new hires, leaves, and departures.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, including liaising with the events team in creating documentation and procedures for convenings.
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for improvement and opportunities for sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor and track key sustainability metrics, such as energy consumption, waste reduction, and carbon emissions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to sustainability efforts for internal stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay abreast of relevant environmental regulations and ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Manage reception services to ensure reception services are delivered in a friendly, welcoming, and customer servicefocused way.
  • Develop and adjust visitor policies and procedures related to reception services.
  • Manage data reporting and analytics reporting on attendance and visitors.
  • Liaise with Human Resources to manage facilities orientation and training in DC for new staff.
  • Liaise with building management and engineering to ensure effective preventative maintenance is performed.
  • Conduct route site tours to review housekeeping efforts, identify needs for repairs or maintenance, and ensure compliance with local city/state building codes.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Generally expected to have 710 years of experience in office management, operations, or related roles, with a focus on sustainability highly desired.
  • Prior supervisor experience desired.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental issues, and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights from data
  • Ability to review systems and procedures and suggest new ways of managing them to be more efficient and ease the work of our colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change within the organization and the broader community.
