Position Summary

  • The Cost Accountant with ERP Experience plays a vital role in analyzing, monitoring, and controlling costs associated with manufacturing processes, inventory management, and overall operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in ERP systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams to provide accurate cost analysis, financial insights, and strategic recommendations.
Pay Rate Ranges $80K - $120K


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Key Responsibilities:

Utilize ERP software systems to maintain and update cost accounting records, including standard costs, cost allocations, and cost centers.


Analyze manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and variances, to ensure accuracy and completeness of cost data in the ERP system.


Develop and maintain standard cost models for all products/services, incorporating factors such as material costs, labor rates, overhead expenses, and production variances.

Prepare and analyze cost variance reports, comparing actual costs to standard costs and identifying variances, trends, and root causes.


Collaborate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to investigate cost variances, identify opportunities for cost savings, and implement corrective actions.


Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and perform cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis to ensure accurate valuation of inventory and cost of sales.

Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing cost projections, analyzing trends, and identifying risks and opportunities.

Assist in the development of cost reduction strategies and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

Participate in ERP system implementation projects, upgrades, and enhancements related to cost accounting modules.


Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls related to cost accounting and financial reporting within the ERP system.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience with ERP software systems
  • Proven experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related roles within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Proactive problemsolving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and driving results.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting principles, manufacturing processes, and inventory management concepts.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, or other process improvement techniques is a plus.
