About Us:
Gateway Academy is a private day school catering to 6th-12th grade students, specializing in Twice-Exceptional learners diagnosed with High-Functioning Autism.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and creative Adaptive PE Coach to join our dedicated team.
In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to inspire and guide our exceptional students through our Get Fit:
Mind & Body program.
By implementing adapted physical education techniques and a variety of engaging activities, such as weight training, yoga, frisbee golf, pickleball, and more, you will help students develop a lifelong appreciation for physical fitness and well-being.
Snapshot of Job Description:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the individual needs and abilities of our students.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and progress while ensuring confidentiality.
- Provide positive feedback and encouragement to students to foster a love for physical education.
- Assess students' physical progress and needs, adapting instruction as necessary.
- Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress and behavioral observations.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on current practices and trends in adapted physical education.
- Maintain inventory of instructional equipment, materials, and aids.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Experience working with students with exceptional abilities, particularly those with High-Functioning Autism.
- Strong understanding of adapted physical education techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging and innovative lesson plans.
- Solutionoriented approach to challenges and issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Pay:
$50, $55,000.00 per year

- working with students on the spectrum: 1 year (preferred)
License/Certification:

- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (preferred)
- CPR/First Aide (preferred)
Ability to Relocate:
- Phoenix, AZ 85028: Relocate before starting work (required)
