The Patient Service Representative (PSR) is an important member of the physician's care team and critical for creating a pleasant and seamless patient experience within an ambulatory clinic.
This work role is responsible for front desk operations including greeting and checking in customers and visitors, answering calls, copay collection, completing MyChart and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) appointment requests, processing external medical records and helping the physician care team prepare for their daily patient appointments.
May assist with checking patients out and scheduling follow up activities as needed.Responsibilities:
Responsible for registration of patient prior to visit and/or upon arrival, including entering demographics, insurance verification, scanning and document preparation, updating documentation and processing of referrals/orders/appointment requests.
Collecting copays and self-pay balances.
Point of service paperwork, acquire signatures and scan to chart.
Provide activation and support for the MyChart EMR System.
Explains facility policies and ensures patient and/or advocate understands and signs the consent and insurance forms at the appropriate time.
Clear and accurate documentation should be entered on the appropriate forms and keyed into the computer system.Complies with Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance rules and regulations. Completes MSPQ as required for admission. Responsible for direct rooming protocol of patients in the clinics. Responsible for check in/out and phone reception as needed.
Facilitates physician to physician consultation services to community referring clinicians and non-health system clinicians.
Scheduling of activities, including patient appointments, Telehealth visits, surgeries, procedures and/or ancillary services using extensive knowledge of appointment types, locations, providers, and specialties.
Will float to centralized scheduling environment or other practices with critical staffing levels as needed and delegated by management.Will provide phone, text and web-based support for Marketing SEM campaigns, event registration, Partners in Care members as directed by management.
Responsible for daily maintenance of workspace and following environmental health cleaning guidelines. Responsible for following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.Responsible for check in/out and phone reception as needed. Employee will receive a day quality assessment. PSR will be expected to complete any necessary retraining to meet assessment scores and role guidelines. Responsible for other duties or projects as assigned by management. JOB REQUIREMENTSRequired:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Read and write EnglishUnderstand and speak English, ability to communicate clearlyBasic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe and Office.
Customer service skills.Ability to work well with others, maintain confidentiality and use good judgementPreferred:
Clerical, registration and/or customer service experience within a health care setting
