- Provide professional nursing services, first aid, illness and emergency care to students, guided by the nursing process and sound decision-making process in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- Provide emergency response and first aid; must be able to perform CPR and use an AED.
- Administer medication with appropriate safety-checks and documentation.
- Maintain accurate student health office visit documentation.
- Follow procedures for suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
- PRN School Nurses will be available to substitute for the building nurses. In most cases, building nurses will be able to give advance notice for planned absences. In some cases, such as with illness or unexpected life events, a building nurse may need to request coverage last-minute.
- PRN School Nurse will need to be reasonably available Mondays-Fridays during the school year. It's expected that the PRN Nurse may not always be available to substitute because of other engagements/duties.
- Staff hours for the elementary buildings are 8am-4:30pm, and 7:15am-3:00pm. Occasionally, a partial day of coverage may be requested.
- PRN Nurse may also be requested to assist with other nursing duties, such as immunization entry, health screenings, etc., as available.
- Licensed in the State of Missouri as a Registered Nurse.
- Graduation from an accredited program with either an associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree (BSN).
- Current CPR/AED certified.
- Must be proficient in the use of email, the internet, and Google Apps, and be able to apply these skills towards the necessary organization, documentation and communication requirements of this position.
- Excellent organization skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities.
- An ability and enthusiasm for promoting the school and its mission to a broad and diverse group of people.
- Excellent work ethic, positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to perform tasks assigned
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and teachers in school environment and community.
- Must pass extensive background check and drug screening.
- Preference given to those with experience working in a school setting or in pediatrics.

Position Summary:
This is a Contract position.
School Nurses strengthen and help to facilitate the educational process by identifying and working to alleviate or minimize the effects of health related barriers to learning in individual students. A PRN School Nurse will be active in supporting the building Nurses in implementing the school health program and promoting wellness for students and staff. PRN School Nurses at Crossroads Charter Schools will oversee the health and wellbeing of students as needed when the designated building nurse is unavailable. All duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional nursing care and practices, district/state board of education policies and procedures and Missouri State Nursing Practice Act.
