CDL Class A Truck Driver (Independent Contractor) Summary

We are looking for experienced and reliable CDL Class A truck drivers to join us as independent contractors or W2 employees. The ideal candidates should have the endurance to handle long hours on the road, be well-organized, and detail-oriented. A clean driving record and a minimum of two (2) years with a CDL are necessary. These positions are open for independent contractors or W2 employees. While medical benefits are not included at the moment, this is a great opportunity to be part of a growing startup. The roles are full-time and involve independent contracting.

A criminal record will not automatically disqualify you from consideration - everyone deserves a second chance.

CDL Truck Driver Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Make safety your top priority at all times
Operate and drive assigned vehicle safely and efficiently
Drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs
Transport goods, livestock, etc., securely to their destination
Ensure proper securing of contents in the truck/flatbed to avoid damage or injuries
Get signatures for confirming deliveries
Assist in planning driving routes
Stick to planned routes for timely delivery
Communicate with dispatch when necessary
Verify shipment loads against the manifest document
Inspect assigned vehicle before and after each trip
Check weather and road conditions before departing
Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle
Service and maintain the vehicle as required (refuel, change oil, check tire pressure, etc.)
Report any maintenance or delivery issues to management
Adhere to delivery schedule and take appropriate rest breaks
Keep detailed driving and delivery logs
Track and report work hours
Follow company regulations and rules
Obey traffic laws and adjust for weather conditions
Comply with ICC and DOT regulations

CDL Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications:

Preferably a high school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with at least 2 years of experience
2+ years of commercial truck driving experience
Clean driving record without violations
Successfully pass background and drug tests
Proficient in driving and parking large vehicles
Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
Physically and mentally fit
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. at a time
Strong physical stamina for long driving shifts
Experience with long-haul transport
Knowledge of GPS and routing systems
Map reading and route planning skills
Good sense of direction
Self-motivated and independent worker
Reliable, disciplined, and resourceful
Ability to stay composed and manage stress effectively
