Description
Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)1. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required Education & Experience:
1. Associate's degree in related field (or) willing to hire the right candidate with contingency upon completing an Associate's degree within one (1) year from hire date.
2. Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of experience as a licensed emergency medical services (EMS) provider at the level of a Paramedic, of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.
3. Current National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Certification or licensure as a paramedic prior to 2013.
4. Experience providing care to patients as part of a 911 emergency response system.
5. Experiences working with all parts of an EMS system (hospitals, government leaders, EMS stakeholders, fire department administration, etc.)
6. State of WI license at or above the level of a Paramedic.
7. State of WI DHS EMS Instructor II license preferred; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
8. American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor preferred; or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.Supplemental Information
The Instructor - EMS/ Paramedic position is part of the Fire & EMS Training department in the School of Protective and Human Services and will report to the Associate Dean.
*There is 1 vacancy available. This full-time instructor position will teach on a flexible year-round calendar, approximately 1410 hours. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends. This position teaches in the accredited paramedic program.
