    The Sales Specialist role is a 12-18 month position that is part of the Sales Development Experience early career rotational program. This role will support personal development and prepare the Team Member for future opportunities with Pella. This is a customer facing role with revenue generating responsibilities. A Sales Specialist is expected to represent Pella Corporation's high quality brand, products, and services by building relationships with, influencing, and training customers in various channels. A competitive, socially assertive individual will be motivated by variety, working independently, and achieving sales goals in an assigned territory.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Required to demonstrate knowledge of basic residential and commercial construction as well as general window and door product understanding. Act as the fenestration expert for assigned accounts and customers, including in depth knowledge of competitive landscape.
    • Persuasively demonstrate Pella windows and doors and provide measuring and accurate quoting services to customers as required. Serve as the link between the company and the customer.
    • Understand customer business and programs to ensure cohesiveness.
    • Responsible for the total control, direction, planning and development of territory in producing overall results.
    • When working with contractor partners, verify annual data, orders, and contractor insurance is current and compliant or obtain contractor insurance certificates as needed.
    • Execute selling activities to reach objectives established for territory. Provide input on strategic initiatives to increase sales and profitability.
    • Manage a personal budget for for travel and training expenses.
    • Engage in research activities including surveys and other forms of market analysis. Provide feedback to management on effectiveness of initiatives at the store and/or customer level, analysis of competitive activity within the region, and overall market trends.
    • When applicable, serve as a Pella Corporation representative at important area and regional events with exposure to key account customers and business partners. Develop relationships with local industry or trade groups. Attend events as needed.
    • Expected to utilize customer relationship management software (Salesforce).
    • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office in every day work.
    • Accurately read, interperet and takeoff blueprints in order to effectively instruct customers how to acquire and grow their new construction builder business.
    • Develop strong business relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
    • Be able to plan, schedule, coach and train others on selling strategies and product knowledge skills. Responsible for leading training to assure that customers use installation practices which maintain the integrity of the product.
    • Communicate regularly with Sales & Marketing Management to provide input and feedback regarding product, programs and policies.
    • Assist accounts in developing builder relationships in order to acquire and maintain new business opportunities. Comfortable interacting with architects/designers, builders/contractors and homeowners.
    • Has a working knowledge of all integrated systems/process understanding and practices self-development via online courses and/or other opportunities.
    • Monitor MyPella for product updates and keep an updated awareness of competitive products.
    • Must be able to travel when necessary. Must maintain a valid drivers license.
    • Promote and facilitate continuous improvement activities in the department.
    • Complete SDX personal development curriculum and other growth assignments.
    Enrolled in the Sales Development Experience program.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B. S./B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and Pella Proprietary Systems.
