The Green Vale School is a co-educational, independent day school (PN-8) located on a beautiful 40-acre campus on the North Shore of Long Island.

Approximately 25 miles from New York City, Green Vale has served families in surrounding suburban communities for the last 101 years.

While responsive to the best in current educational practices, Green Vale continues to believe in the value of a traditional liberal arts education.

The Green Vale School has an opening for a Middle School English Teacher beginning late August 2024 through November 2024.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

• Teaching all aspects of literature, writing, vocabulary, and grammar to middle school students in grades 68;
• Implementing the established curriculum and making positive contributions when necessary;
• Developing students to be critical writers and thinkers;
• A commitment to professional growth through collaboration with colleagues and attending workshops and conferences; and
• Serving as an advisor and/or coach.

Requirements include:

• Undergraduate and Master's Degrees (preferred) in the content area and/or education; and
• Teaching experience in English, preferably at the middle school level
• Broad literary knowledge and a deep understanding of best practices in English education
• An enthusiasm for teaching middle school students and an understanding of the needs of adolescents as learners
• Experience working as part of a collaborative team of teachers
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and parents about student learning and growth
