Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to stand in place in the lobby outside of concert hall doors to maintain the patrons until the doors open, during intermission and at the end of the performance; also provide direction and answer questions or requests.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Arrive ontime in appropriate uniform for scheduled shift.
  • Greet customers in a courteous and respectful manner.
  • Open and close lobby doors.
  • Receive and check tickets for proper event, date, time and location.
  • Maintain patrons in an orderly fashion in the lobby area until the doors are opened.
  • Direct patrons to the location designated on the ticket.
  • Respond quickly and courteously to patrons' needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action.
  • Inform patrons that food & drinks are "not allowed" in the theater.
  • Alert patrons in the lobby area when the performance is about to begin and at the end of intermission.
  • Assist patrons with disabilityrelated issues.
  • Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with the theater; you may be asked to work in a different location.
  • No sitting during a performance unless directed by House Manager.
  • Inform House manager if a problem should arise.
  • Remain in position until the end of the performance or until staff is dismissed.
  • Monitor physical surroundings in assigned area prior to and throughout event for safety, cleanliness and functionality.
  • In case of emergency, actively assist in safeguarding patrons.
  • Assist House Manager with procedures for injuries, illness, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:


  • High School diploma or equivalent, a plus.
  • Prior usher or related theater experience.
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude are essential.
  • Ability to provide accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e. restrooms, concessions, coat check, etc.)
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Able to exercise good judgment.
Able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, holidays and weekends.

  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to Relocate:

  • Newark, NJ 07102: Relocate before starting work (required)
