At our Belmont campus, we serve students in grades 7-12. At our downtown campus, we currently serve students in grades 9-12. Our student demographics are 90% students of color, 86% free and reduced lunch and 19% students with disabilities.

About the opportunity

ESL Teacher Duties/Responsibilities

Implement a wellstructured and engaging ESL curriculum that aligns with the institution's educational goals.
Plan and deliver effective lessons to enhance students' language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Evaluate students' language proficiency through various assessment methods.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their progress and areas for improvement.
Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation and student engagement.
Effectively manage classroom behavior and create a conducive atmosphere for learning.
Maintain open and regular communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns.
Collaborate with the regular ESL teacher and other staff members to ensure a smooth transition during the maternity leave period.
Stay informed about the latest ESL teaching methodologies and resources.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
Provide necessary documentation for the regular teacher to review upon return.

ESL Teacher Required Skills/Abilities/Education

Bachelor's degree in Education, English or a related field.
PEL License with an ESL and ELA Endorsement is required
Proven experience in teaching ESL to diverse groups of students.
Familiarity with ESL curriculum development and assessment strategies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to different learning styles and create an inclusive learning environment.

ESL Teacher Physical Requirements

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
