    Duties

  • Serve as the Writer-Editor for the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army (AASA) and provides editorial support for the AASA, Deputy AASA, and their staffs.
  • Provide rapid and incisive executive-level analysis and support in response to AASA or the Deputy AASA requests for an individual perspective.
  • Apply a working knowledge of research methodologies, coupled with a high level of expertise in writing and editing skills to incorporate historical, factual analysis, and prepare talking points and speeches.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes work that involves providing editorial and production support required for hard-copy and electronic publication for dissemination to various agencies and major commands; coordinate the processing of assigned publications with internal and external stakeholders; and utilize publication guidelines or procedures in order to edit, write, and finalize products for publication.

    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

    Education

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
