JOB SUMMARY

The Trauma Recovery Center at MIRACLES Counseling Center is modeled after the UCSF-ZSFGH Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), an award-winning program that is the first of its kind in California.

It is designed to help victims of violent crime overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma.

The TRC serves recent victims of violent crime, including survivors of physical assault, sexual assault, gunshot wounds, stabbings, domestic violence and human trafficking.


Under the supervision of the TRC Director, the incumbent will recruit, orient and train new TRC clinical staff to provide assertive outreach, community outreach, clinical case management, and trauma-informed, evidence-based psychotherapy services to acute survivors of violent crime.

The incumbent will also develop policies and procedures to direct clinical practice, monitor client flow, and develop/maintain community partnerships. The incumbent will also carry a caseload of individual clients and may facilitate group treatment as well.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mental Health Staff Management and Client Flow:

  • Maintain MCC database, CALVCB database, and Productivity system/log.
  • Determine caseload and work load for all clinical workers and students based upon number of, intakes, clients, and administrative duties. This will be done in consultation with other clinical supervisors when applicable.
  • Determine total number of clinical slots available and troubleshoot when outreach list is overly full or down.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance on policies related to standards of clinical care (i.e., outreach, case management, timely termination, etc.), documentation, productivity, and utilization of petty cash/gift cards, emergency hotel vouchers, muni token/taxi voucher etc.
  • Communicate and clarify policies and procedures at allstaff meeting as needed.
  • Develop and maintain monthly schedule for intakes
  • Coordinate needs assessment and implementation of cultural humility training
  • Field requests for presenters from other community agencies and schools and assign staff to
provide educational presentations

  • Approve and coordinate all vacation and leave requests
  • Perform probationary and annual performance evaluations for supervisees.
  • Gather timesheets, collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees.
  • Facilitate 2 Parenting Groups.
  • Provide Individual clinical supervision to trainees and/or Registered Associates and cofacilitate Group Supervision (MDT) with Director of Clinical Services, if licensed.

Clinic Oversight

  • Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.
  • Notifies company personnel of visitor arrival.
  • Maintains security and telecommunications system.
  • Informs visitors by answering or referring inquiries.
  • Maintains security by following procedures, monitoring logbook, and issuing visitor badges.
  • Logs all sessions conducted by all clinicians.
  • Operates telecommunication system by following manufacturer's instructions for house phone and console operation.
  • Keeps a safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Supports continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Train and oversee all clinicians to ensure uniform practices with respect to triaging new referrals and assigning them appropriately (quarterly meeting)
  • Serve as onsite supervisor and handle all onsite issues, emergencies including deescalation and containment of the emergency, reporting to the Director and risk management, debriefing with all involved staff, clarifying roles and expectations between different teams and team members, and ensuring that clinical followup is appropriate to all involved clients.
  • Train and oversee all oncall mental health staff to ensure standard of care is provided to victims of crime being seen in the emergency department, inpatient medical visits, and onsite for medical followups

Liaison Work Within TRC

  • Attend weekly data meeting with database / administrative staff around productivity and billing.
  • Meet weekly with the Director to report on all activities and make decisions on issues that have arisen
  • Attend weekly MDT meeting

Teaching and Trainings

  • Conduct annual safety and deescalation training for all TRC staff and trainees
  • Provide presentations and workshops to community partners
  • Attend monthly meeting with TRC Cal VCB Team and UCSF Meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with community partners and host 4 meetings a year with our collaborative partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with local Victim Services Office of the District Attorney's Office to promote cooperation and collaboration
