Job Description

Lotus Bakeries in Mebane, North Carolina, is seeking a quality manager who is an expert in leading and overseeing audits. The quality manager ensures the safety and quality of food products that are delivered to market from our factory. A major responsibility is to instill and maintain a culture of continuous improvement towards safety, quality, and efficiency. As a member of the plant leadership team, the quality manager contributes to the overall plant performance. Occasional domestic and international travel is required.

Responsibilities

Execute tasks to ensure optimal technical operation of the production machinery and equipment
Perform periodic maintenance and systematic improvements of the production machinery and equipment
Assist in developing and implementing technical projects
Perform tasks related to general maintenance of internal transportation equipment and utilities
Possess a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement, especially regarding safety, quality, and efficiency
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance according to prescribed procedures and guidelines
Perform hands-on intervention in case of malfunction of machines and utilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems

Tasks and Responsibilities Regarding Safety, Quality, and Efficiency

Report unsafe situations or near-miss accidents and assist in the development of preventive solutions
Ensure the safe use of machines and tools
Perform calibration activities
Help with the cleanliness and tidiness of the maintenance facilities
Work within the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety rules and standards
Provide ongoing maintenance and support to production machinery, manufacturing equipment, and other equipment
Change, adjust, and fine-tune packaging machines
Monitor equipment operability after changing the machine settings or other maintenance activities, in consultation with the baker, doughmaker, or line operator
Assist in the development and implementation of technical projects
Assist with inventory management of spare parts
Document work notes in system
Participate in shift handoff meetings

Qualifications

Education:

Associates degree in Mechanics, Electricity/electronics, Pneumatics, Industrial Systems, or Industrial Automation is preferred
High school diploma or GED is required

Specific Knowledge

Must be able to perform duties following all regulatory GMP/FSMA food hygiene practices

Experience:

Prior work experience in a food processing or food production environment strongly preferred
Proficient in the maintenance of production equipment
Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC knowledge
Knowledge of high voltage AC and low voltage DC electrical systems
Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of mechanics and basic troubleshooting
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining robotics and/or industrial automation, pneumatic conveying systems, and flow wrapping machines is required
Able to read blueprints and electrical schematics
Forklift/lift truck experience
Root cause analysis
