About this role:


Wells Fargo is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives & Innovation to support a transformation and innovation agenda within its core administrative functions.

This position will play a key role in executing the strategic vision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), focused on: driving commerciality, optimizing the employee experience, transforming the CAO operating model, driving horizontal integration across the CAO and realizing efficiency in Wells Fargo's corporate services functions.

The role will also be responsible for developing strategic initiatives which the CAO will execute across Wells Fargo.


This is a newly created position that will lead a team of ~3-5 Strategy Consultants to drive transformation efforts in partnership with senior leadership across the CAO functions - Data Management & Insights, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Security, Corporate Properties, Strategic Programs & Enterprise Change Management, and Enterprise Business Resiliency.


In this role, you will:


"Run the business"

  • Orchestrate the strategic planning process and development of longrange strategic plans for six functional areas: Data Management & Insights, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Security, Corporate Properties, Strategic Programs & Enterprise Change Management, and Enterprise Business Resiliency
  • Provide thought leadership to develop and implement strategic solutions to highly complex strategic and business problems
  • Facilitate crossfunctional strategic discussions work closely with business function leadership to identify business opportunities and challenges that cannot be addressed within functional silos, develop implementation roadmaps and incorporate into the CAO strategic plan and investment prioritization process.
  • Manage and develop a team of Strategy Consultants to effectively deliver on enterprise transformation programs for the Chief Administrative Office.

"Change the business"

  • Lead the strategic development of a new employee experience program for Wells Fargo and related core business planning activities associated with this program: Define the framework, top priorities, and success measures for each function, and develop business roadmaps aligned to the CAO's strategic framework
  • Track and monitor the execution of the employee experience program to ensure both the content and the spirit of the plan are being implemented. Drive goal alignment at the functional leadership team level, delivering regular updates to the CAO including key measures, milestones, and activities
  • Lead strategic innovation platforms, as defined during the strategic planning process, support business functions to create and validate the business case, build a project plan, manage external partners, lead crossfunctional meetings, and deliver a comprehensive handover plan to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify and propose crossfunctional strategic opportunities to achieve greater growth and investment, while balancing efficiencies
  • Lead a new innovation capability for the CAO, including deployment of training programs focused on building innovation capabilities and developing an innovation mindset.

Required Qualifications:


  • 8+ years of Strategy and Planning experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience

Desired Qualifications:


  • 8+ years of business experience in strategy development and/or leading transformation programs for corporate shared services functions Data Management & Insights, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Security, Corporate Properties, Strategic Programs & Enterprise Change Management, and Enterprise Business Resiliency.
  • 3+ years Management Consulting experience at a toptier consulting firm.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the financial services industry.
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in delivering crossfunctional transformation efforts for large enterprise
  • Highly refined and professional verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to lead, present, and obtain buy in from large stakeholder groups spanning staff through senior and executive management.
  • Influential leadership, ability to lead and manage teams without direct authority.
  • Selfstarter, with a proven ability to think both strategically and tactically, diagnose opportunities and implement operationally often in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience in creating a positive working culture, enabling empowerment and development of people

Location: 30 Hudson Yards, New York, NY. Only posted location will be considered.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule
  • Willingness to work onsite in one of the listed locations
