Position Title:
Molding Operator


Shift: 2nd shift


Position Summary


Responsible for packing finished product into cartons and to assure that the product meets the quality standards defined on the Product Quality Standard (PQS) form.


Major Areas of Responsibility Include

  • Obtain empty cartons from conveyor or other sources.
  • Prepare the carton to receive the "stack packed" or "tumble packed" product and place the cartons as necessary.
  • Inspect parts in accordance with DPC policy and the PQS form.
  • Products are stack or tumble packed, and inspected based upon customer specifications and requirements.
  • Remove full cartons from packing stand or from tumble pack area and close the carton in accordance with DPC procedure and PQS sheet.
  • Grind all clean scrap and rejected parts generated by the machines for which they are responsible.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Operate all production equipment to which they are assigned in a way designed to maximize product quality and production efficiency.
  • Effectively and safely diagnose and correct, or report to their supervisor, mechanical problems that reduce, or prevent, the safe or most efficient possible performance of the equipment under their control.
  • Visually inspect parts and perform all required product quality tests according to established quality standards in order to determine the acceptability of the parts and to immediately identify any known or suspected quality defects to their Supervisor.
  • Collect sample parts for QC evaluation as required for each product.
  • Retrieve appropriate raw materials from designated locations to support production requirement of assigned machines(pallets, cartons, lining material, bags, etc)
  • Move finished goods to staging areas using hand pallet jacks.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work station at all times.
  • Follow safety guidelines, company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and also practice good work ethics.
  • Accurately record all machine downtime and the nature of the downtime as well as any "scrap" produced for production control and inventory requirements.
  • Accurately record all required information on appropriate work order related documents as required.
  • Assure the accuracy of product packaging and work order traceability.
  • Maintain accurate box part counts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Good mathematical skills to perform basic math calculations, to include addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to understand English to sufficient extent to understand verbal directions from supervisor.
  • Ability to read and write effectively while performing job duties, as well as in determining whether the product meets quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to make well thought out decisions and ensures appropriate courses of action are taken.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced working environment and under pressure.
  • Vision must be correctable to '2020' to read all necessary work related materials and visually identify defects in products being produced. Must be able to perceive and accurately identify differences in colors and shadings.
  • Hearing acuity sufficient to understand spoken instructions or phone conversations in a factory environment.
  • Ability to work overtime (OT) as required.

Education and Experience

  • Previous manufacturing environment experience preferred.
  • Plastics industry experience a plus.

  • The employee must have good motor skills and be able to continuously lift 5lbs. The employee must be able to lift and carry 55 lbs.
  • The employee is required to occasionally bend, squat and reach above shoulder level, as well as turn, twist, pull, and push.
