Position Description: The Powell Firm is looking for a seasoned, organized, detail-oriented and friendly paralegal to join our team. If you are a responsible, trustworthy and kind individual who likes to help people in need and work within a team for a common goal, we want to hear from you

The paralegal will walk our clients from start to finish through their legal journey, keeping them informed on each step while also assisting our team of lawyers and paralegals to complete each project on time with efficiency and diligence. Our best fit is someone with 10+ years of experience with a customer service background who likes to talk on the phone, can easily build relationships with others and is detail oriented with a commitment to a clean process.

Purpose and Objective: The overall purpose and objective of this position is to maintain and support the team and their systems while also supporting clients and their needs. We desire the paralegal to be tenacious, responsible, deadline driven and kind and to exemplify our core values of gratitude, empathy, trust, and a happy warrior.

Major Responsibilities: Below is a list of the major responsibilities of this position and the estimate of the percentage of time spent on each responsibility:

Legal Support:

Draft routine pleadings, orders and other legal documents
Gather all pertinent information from the client for lawyers to review before accepting a case
Maintain legal calendaring systems to ensure timely compliance
Answer initial questions that clients may have pertaining to their legal needs
Distribute questionnaires and necessary documents to the client through Clio, our online portal
Correspond with various court personnel, local counsel and adversary attorneys
Schedule client appointments for attorneys, make confirmation phone calls, and follow up when confirmations are missed (team motto: no dropped leads)
Prepare lawyers with all the information they need before talking to new leads or following up with current clients
Work with probate courts and other parties as needed
Assist with notary and witnessing as needed
Help assemble packages for clients and assist with other clerical needs

Internal Systems and Culture:

Encourage, support, and lead the staff toward the firm's core values
Update and maintain project entries and pipeline through the project management system
Create and manage a key metrics database to track lead progress and success rate
Maintain a level of excellence in dress code, conduct and relationships within the office

Customer Service:

Communicate with clients on a regular basis concerning their cases
Leave every client who interacts with us feeling heard, supported and better than they entered.
Attend community and networking events as needed
