    Job Opening: School Counselor FTE)
    St. Therese Catholic Academy (STCA) seeks a full-time School Counselor beginning in July 2024. This role will begin with a transition training with our outgoing counselor as well as introductions to families and sta? members before the launch of the school year. Given the current reality of our world and community, this role is vital for our mission and success now more than ever.

    St. Therese is a welcoming, diverse, and faith-?lled community that has been igniting the faith, minds, and dreams of our students since 1927. The school currently serves 200 students ages 3-14, 35% of whom receive free/reduced lunch and 60% of our families receive tuition assistance. Our sta? has 35 team members. Our enrollment goal for 24-25 is 205 for our 97th school year. We are one of the most diverse (racially, ethnically, religiously, economically, geographically) Catholic schools in the region. We are a small community with a family feel. We have a dual-leadership administrative model with a VP over academics and school culture and a Principal over operations and advancement to better support our students, families, and teachers in the next chapter of our storied history. The School Counselor position works closely with both administrators and teachers and is a vital role to meet the holistic needs of children and families in our beautifully diverse community.

    Applicants should be mission-driven, highly motivated, dedicated, and collaborative individuals who are committed to working with students and families from all backgrounds in a diverse, Catholic setting. The ideal candidate will bring passion, energy, faith, creativity, and a strong work ethic with a desire to be a community support and enjoy partnering with colleagues and parents. The candidate must also desire to help students of varying ability levels and with diverse life circumstances thrive and succeed.
    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Support students and families through direct counseling and referrals to mission-driven partner agencies
    • Co-lead the Student Support Services team with faculty designee
    • Co-lead building wide SEL work (Second Step curriculum, PBIS framework) with VP
    • Behavior support with a strengths based/Restorative Justice/developmentally informed lens
    • Consultation on SEL, behavior, classroom management, parenting, crisis management, trauma informed practice, etc. with parents and teachers
    • Coordinate workshops and trainings for faculty and sta?, parents, and students to promote mental health awareness, self-care, best practices for parents, and other topics as needed
    • Collaborate with school leadership and Health and Wellness Committee to create and enact Health and Wellness plan for school
    • Other responsibilities assigned at the discretion of the principal
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or Education with a focus on counseling (Master's preferred)
    • PBIS/MTSS & Special Education experience preferred
    • Understanding and genuine appreciation of children
    • Desire to work in a racially and economically diverse, faith-centered community
    • 3-5 years of experience in a school counselor or comparable role
    • Preferred active Catholic
    Salary: ($50,000-$60,000 range)
    Any o?ered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certi?cations.
