    SUMMARY

    Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes to the Commercial Lines departments business processes to improve operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability. Collects and studies operational and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Supports cross-functional activities to design and implement business processes, training materials, and various reports to improve performance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Work closely with Commercial Lines leadership to support data needs for new products, procedures, and communication to enhance performance of assigned P&L within JM Group.
    • Assist underwriting leadership in developing data-driven underwriting practices and objective risk assessment capabilities.
    • Demonstrate initiative through recommending and implementing process improvements that further the long-term metadata, master data and strategy of the business unit.
    • Develop and maintain Commercial Lines Underwriting SOP's, Guidelines, etc. to improve efficiency and customer service.
    • Effectively evaluates processes and internal workflows and document all business process modeling activities.
    • Proactively determine efficiencies in underwriting operations through data and technology, as well as the ability to lead and influence across the CL team
    • Understands the processes with an end-to-end perspective and a level of domain expertise, to allow insight to the business impact of not only their process area, but also upstream and downstream processes.
    • Works with product and tech teams to develop tech-first insurance underwriting and automated audit solutions.
    • Participates in system implementations by defining requirements, supporting testing and validations as well as business readiness.
    • In partnership with the Product team, monitor performance of the commercial lines book. Propose adjustments to corporate underwriting standards and philosophies to generate business without compromising the pricing and acceptability standards.
    • Work with data scientists to build predictive models for retention, conversion, loss ratios, and premiums.
    • Support the testing and validation of product and process changes.
    • Represent the department and company on projects and committees as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an insurance, data management or business-related field.
    • Must have a minimum of three years (5 years preferred) of underwriting, analytics or process improvement experience.
    • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
    • Six Sigma certified or a certificate in business process preferred (CBPA, CBPP, CBPL)
    • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Share Point), particularly with data manipulation and pivot tables.
    • Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and translate data into actionable opportunities.
    • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously as well as establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the company.
    • Must have strong attention to detail and organization skills.
