Role Description

The Canine Pain Strategy Director is responsible for leading all Marketing efforts and U.S. planning for new and mature products in the Canine Pain therapeutic area. Key brand responsibility includes Librela, and Rimadyl, as well as cross-portfolio efforts with other canine products.

This leader will serve as a manager to 2-3 marketing professionals and will have P&L responsibility for the canine pain portfolio.


Responsibilities include overseeing the development and implementation of therapeutic, brand, and regional marketing strategies and leading the operating plan process for canine pain.

The Canine Pain Strategy Director will also coordinate with Veterinary Medical Research (VMRD) and Global Commercial Development (GCD) on lifecycle plans and strategies to ensure a robust pipeline of new products and line extensions.

This leader will be responsible for creating cohesion of commercialization strategy across channels including independent clinics, member groups, corporate and specialty hospitals, and distribution.


As a leader in the Petcare organization, will model Zoetis' core beliefs and communicate the importance of conducting business in a manner consistent with Zoetis values and behaviors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic plan for Canine Pain including Professional and Consumer in collaboration with crossfunctional team.
  • Develop and deliver the 3year strategic and financial operating plan.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 23 marketers.
  • Strategic role in a crossfunctional team that includes colleagues from Independent Sales, Corporate & Specialty marketing and sales, Retail, Distribution, Market Research, Insights & Analytics, Marketing Engine, Digital Marketing, Finance, Medical Affairs, and Sales Enablement.
  • Manage the P&L by ensuring key brand revenues, profit margins, and expenses are in line with division and company expectations.
  • Prepare and present therapeutic area reviews and business updates to Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Global Commercial Development to facilitate the acquisition and development of new products and line extensions.
  • Lead the Canine Pain commercial lifecycle planning efforts in collaboration with Medical Affairs to ensure new data and formulations optimize the lifecycle of current brands.
  • Collaborate with Independent Sales, Corporate & Specialty, Channel, and Veterinary Professional Services Management to ensure complete alignment of business strategy and execution at the customer level.
  • Collaborate with other Therapeutic Area teams to enhance key functional skills to maximize crossportfolio opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience

  • BS /BA and relevant experience required. MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of related experience and a proven record demonstrating successful branding, strategy development, and communications management.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to manage budgets and expenses.
  • Experience working with crossfunctional teams in developing and executing brand strategies, programs, and tactics to achieve and surpass market share and revenue targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and player/coach.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fastpaced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to oversee complex, crossfunctional projects that require input from many internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; strong negotiation/persuasion skills.
  • Possesses indepth knowledge and expertise in marketing disciplines; brand management; market research; communications strategy; customer insight; and marketing material development.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis systems).
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make thoughtful, fair decisions based on relevant information.
  • Ability to interact with/influence peers with confidence and conviction.
Location

This position may require occasional travel for industry conferences, professional meetings, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
