Job Overview

Maintain required financial controls and serve as advisor to principal or other school administrator regarding procedures, practices, record keeping, and reporting requirements of all finance and accounting activities related to campus.


Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out the finance and accounting activities related to student activities, appropriated and special funds, utilizing manual processes and computer technology
  • Code and classify transactions involving distribution of expenditures among classes of accounts
  • Process supplemental payroll records for both district and non district staff
  • Analyze and interprets relatively complex rules and procedures for other employees and the general public
  • Prepare required accounts payable documents
  • Receive receipts and deposit funds from various sources
  • Summarize and balance entries recorded in individual journals and ledgers, and transfer data to general ledgers

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Business training and/or experience in assigned area
  • Proficiency in finance and bookkeeping, preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with school policies and procedures; to maintain clerical accounting records and to prepare reports
  • Ability to understand in accordance with school policies and procedures; to maintain clerical accounting records and to prepare reports
  • Ability to work harmoniously with students, administrative, and instructional staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of general bookkeeping practices, business English and modern office practices
  • Some knowledge of school bookkeeping/ accounting procedures
  • Skill in the operation of a microcomputer, keyboard, and peripheral equipment

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
