- Oversees, reviews, and coordinates assigned civil engineering projects, functions, and activities for the Public Works Department.
- Responsible for financial administration, planning, design, budgeting, purchasing, plan reviews, and construction management.
- Work with the City's Procurement team to prepare proposals and oversee the solicitation process for key Public Works positions.
- Evaluate alternatives and make recommendations regarding proposed improvements.
- Independently review engineering plan submittals for compliance with City standards and specifications.
- Oversees contracts, and reviews and approves progress submittals. Provide internal design preparation and recommendations for capital projects.
- Coordination with other city department and communication companies regarding installation and maintenance of telecommunications networks.
- Professional civil engineering principles, practices, and methods
- Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Methods and techniques of engineering plan design, review, and approval
- Methods and techniques of contract negotiation and administration
- Modern office technology including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ensure adherence to established contract provisions and specifications
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field
- The bachelor's degree requirement will be waived if PE (Professional Engineer) License has been obtained via C.R.S a).
- Five years of full-time professional engineering experience in an area related to assignment
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Possess, or obtain upon hire a Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Possess or obtain within 6 months of hire a Colorado Professional Engineering (PE) License
- Experience in procurement, contract compliance, and/ or contract administration
- Experience in bookkeeping, or managing a budget in a professional setting
- Experience working in a federal and/or municipal government setting

Description / Position Overview
Engineer III
The purpose of this position is to review, design, oversee, and coordinate engineering projects within the Public Works Department. You will serve as a project manager and technical expert, with oversight on financial administration, planning, design, budgeting, contracting, purchasing, and construction management.
