As a Highway Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead a team in the maintenance and operations of the highway systems that keep Virginia movingIn this role, you will oversee and perform a variety of roadway maintenance activities while supervising a crew and providing technical guidance to crew members performing maintenance activities and equipment operations. Minimum Qualifications

Skilled in the use of computers and software applications.
Valid driver's license.
Skilled in operating and maintaining light to heavy duty trucks and equipment.
Ability to perform manual labor.
Ability to direct, evaluate and train others.
Safety shoes required.
Considerable knowledge of roadway maintenance and construction practices and procedures.
Ability to obtain valid CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter. Must comply with DOT and VDOT policies and standards when operating CDL equipment.
Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications thereafter.
Knowledge of inventory practices and procedures.

Additional Considerations

A combination of training, experience, or education in Management, Maintenance, Construction, or related field desired.
DCR Erosion and Sediment Control certification.
Experience supervising others and evaluating performance.
Experience planning schedules and assigning manpower.
Ability to gather data, conduct research and create reports.
Experience overseeing emergency operations activities including snow removal, storm damage, and accident clean-up.
Inventory management experience.
Experience in roadway maintenance and, or construction activities.
