- Contribute to the engineering design of Zap's next-generation plasma fusion devices, focusing on the high-voltage pulsed power system
- Design, model, and analyze parts and assemblies for high-voltage pulsed power systems
- Collaborate with scientists and research engineers to establish design requirements
- Occasionally fabricate small parts and prototypes
- Create professional engineering drawings using relevant standards
- Coordinate with procurement to acquire raw materials and finished parts
- Education: B.S or M.S in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Experience: 5-7 years
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (e.g., SolidWorks, Pro-E)
- Strong background in mechanical finite element analysis (e.g., COMSOL, Ansys)
- Expertise in material selection for various applications
- Familiarity with traditional and advanced fabrication processes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced engineering research environment
- Experience in designing for plasma systems or high-voltage, high-energy systems
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Proficiency with shop tools like lathes, CNC mills, and drill presses

Zap Energy is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in designing and building complex mechanical assemblies in a research and development setting. This engineer will play a hands-on role in creating mechanical parts and assemblies to be used in high voltage, pulsed power electrical systems.
