    For children with unique learning needs, this is even more critical.

    The Lincoln Families EXCEL Program (Excellence through Counseling, Education and Learning) provides behavioral supports for students, families, and schools to develop tools and learning environments for academic success through:


    • Counseling Enriched Classrooms: Working with districts and charter schools to provide special education classrooms with integrated mental health services for children with emotional and behavioral challenges. From initial referral to mainstreaming, our team works with students, families, and teachers to build and drive and individualized plan for meeting the academic and behavioral goals of each student.
    * Mobile Special Education Teams: Providing specialized services to individual students at their school sites, including:

    • Integrated Mental Health Services
    • Applied Behavior Analysis
    • Social Skills Development
    • Coordination of Care

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Intervention Specialist will implement a high quality, comprehensive and individualized intervention program to assist children with appropriate behavior within their school, their home, and their community.

    Exercising independent and discretionary decision making, the Intervention Specialist works with individual students and families on issues relating to the clients individualized education, behavioral support and mental health treatment plans.

    The Intervention Specialist utilizes community resources and works closely with district professionals to develop a strong quality program for each client.

    Monitors all data to determine effectiveness of program. Completes assigned documentation consistent with program guidelines, IEP requirements, and Medi-Cal regulations, as appropriate.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ability to work collaboratively with members of inter-disciplinary teams; and ability to provide ongoing clinical consultation to assigned staff.
    • Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population.
    • The willingness and the ability to be trained, using our therapeutic and relationship-building philosophy that includes Collaborative Problem-Solving, Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), Positive Behavioral Intervention, and SAFE Environments training programs
    • Use clinical insights, educational motivational techniques and commitment to excellence to promote clients growth;
    • Support development of and implement a safe and successful positive behavior plan designed to reduce the number of disruptive behaviors in the classroom, home, and the community;
    • Co-facilitate therapeutic and/or skills building groups for clients;
    • Provide milieu-based supervision for children individually and in groups at all times, assisting each child in working with a group and in handling individual problems;
    • Provide solution-focused counseling, adaptive skills building coaching, and crisis intervention to clients throughout school day;
    • Develop and implement effective behavioral management techniques consistent with behavior goals and treatment plans and Lincolns philosophy;
    • Initiate, plan and implement client outings into the community in order to expose clients to broad range of experiences and promote positive interaction with the community;
    • Work under the direction of program supervisor and manager to provide on-going family contact and quality support services linking child and family with well researched, relevant and affordable community resources and services;
    • Participate actively in all team meetings, staff meetings, individual and group supervision meetings and school meetings (IEP, SST, SART, etc.) as requested and collaborate proactively with treatment team to deliver quality behavior support and mental health services to clients and families;
    • Develop relationships and ongoing communication with teachers and other staff; provide concrete strategies for positive and feasible individual and class intervention strategies that are in line with client treatment and goals;
    • Participate as needed in Extended School Year activities for clients and/or other agency assignments during the summer;
    • Participate in on-going training on intervention techniques and life-skills curriculum;
    • Complete all required documentation in accordance with regulations (e.g. Medi-cal, IDEA/IEP, progress reporting). Develop and administer outcome measurements to ensure quality of service and implementation of individualized behavior support and/or treatment plans;
    • Enrich class and students instructional programs to meet their individual instructional and treatment needs, goals and interests using Lincoln and community resources; and
    • Maintain all appropriate records including crisis intervention files and/or incident reports, behavioral tracking forms, lesson plans consistent with IEP goals and objectives, attendance records, clinical notes and other records as required;

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders a plus;
    • Demonstrated awareness of, sensitivity to and competence in dealing with cultural and socioeconomic diversity of client population;
    • Good written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to relate effectively and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers and staff;
    • Valid California drivers license, a satisfactory driving record and personal vehicle insurance coverage;
    • Availability of a personal vehicle in good working condition to be used on Lincoln business;
    • Must meet eligibility requirements to bill for Medi-Cal services;
    • Willingness and the ability to be first aid and CPR trained;
    • Willingness and the ability to be trained, using our therapeutic and relationship-building philosophy that includes Collaborative Problem-Solving, Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), and SAFE Environments training programs; and,
    • High degree of physical fitness with the ability to run, jump, bend, stoop, kneel, drop to one knee and get back up.

    • Salary: $54,000 ($26.00 per hour)
    • Bilingual Skills: Up to an additional $2.50 per hour (contingent upon results of language proficiency test)
