Job DescriptionOverview:
As a Senior Test Engineer within the Department of VA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software applications and systems developed to support the VA's healthcare data sharing initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and execute comprehensive testing strategies, leveraging your expertise in testing methodologies, automation tools, and healthcare domain knowledge. Having active VA clearance is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure the functionality, usability, and performance of healthcare data sharing applications and systems.
2. Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
3. Lead and mentor junior test engineers, providing guidance on testing best practices, methodologies, and tools.
4. Design and implement automated testing frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools such as Selenium, JUnit, or equivalent, to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
5. Perform manual and automated testing across various platforms, including web, mobile, and backend systems, to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
6. Analyze test results, track defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.
7. Conduct performance testing, load testing, and stress testing to assess system scalability and reliability under different conditions.
8. Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, and sprint planning sessions to provide input on testability and quality considerations.
9. Stay updated on emerging technologies, testing trends, and industry best practices to continuously enhance testing processes and methodologies within the HDSO.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in software testing, with at least 6 years of experience in a senior or lead testing role.
3. Strong knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices, with experience in both manual and automated testing.
4. Proficiency in testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or equivalent.
5. Experience in healthcare IT or familiarity with healthcare standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) is highly desirable.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
8. Proven leadership abilities, with experience in mentoring and guiding junior team members.
9. Certifications such as ISTQB Certified Tester, Agile Tester, or equivalent, are a plus.
